UNSCAR and the Center for Non-proliferation and Export Control discussed progress in improving Kyrgyz legislation in the area of state control over the movement of arms, military equipment, products and services for military purposes.

On 27 May 2020, representatives of UNSCAR (a foundation under the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs) and the Center for Non-proliferation and Export Control met via videoconference to discuss ways of improving Kyrgyz legislation on State control over the movement of arms, military equipment, products and services for military purposes.

The current progress in this area was discussed during the online meeting.

The Center for Non-proliferation and Export Control, with the assistance of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs and its fund (UNSCAR), is implementing a project to improve legislation on State control of the movement of military goods and services, including their export, import and transit, together with interested State bodies.

Experts from the Center, together with the interested agencies, have drafted the relevant draft legislation and are currently undergoing the relevant approval procedure.

The adoption of the draft law will make it possible to regulate the procedure for export control of military goods in the Kyrgyz Republic.
