Representatives of the Center, Uran Akhmetov and Taalaibek Bektashev, participated in the regional seminar on strengthening national, sub regional and international capacity to prepare and respond to the intentional use of biological weapons, that was conducted on 26-27 June in Issyk-Kul.
The workshop was held by the Implementation Support Unit of the Convention on Biological Weapons (BWC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek.
Representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, participated in the event as well as representatives of the United Nations Office Disarmament Affairs, OSCE, WHO, FAO, World Conservation Organization Animal health, the European Union’s Centre of Excellence initiative Experience in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear risk”, experts from Belarus and Russia.
The main objective of the workshop was to exchange information and national experience on planning measures in case of intentional use of biological weapons (including relevant plans actions) at the national and regional levels and obtain materials to update national action plans.
The participants highly appreciated the organization of the event, which was accompanied by command and staff exercises and other practical exercises activities with simulated situations.
