From June 14 to 18, 2021, Marat Sadykov, an expert of the Center, took part in an online training seminar on best practices in developing a Responsible Care program for the chemical industry. This seminar was organized by the Russian Union of Chemists in cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
During the five days, the legal issues of the peaceful use of chemistry under the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, international initiatives in the development of the “Responsible Care” program for the chemical industry, its main directions and spheres of influence, positive results from the implementation of the program and the best practical recommendations from facilities chemical industry, cooperation and development of related programs aimed at improving the environmental situation in the territory of the chemical industry and its environs. Various modules have been developed that can help to adapt the Responsible Care program for the chemical industry to local conditions. In general, the training seminar was very productive, despite the fact that it was held under the restrictions associated with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Technical problems did not always make it possible to quickly follow the developments of the seminar-training.
