On April 24-25, 2018, the Forum of the Central Asian States on export control issues in the framework of the UNSC Resolution 1540 was held in Vienna (Austria). The event was organized by the OSCE with support of the U.S. Department of State’s Export Control and Border Security program. Representatives of government agencies of the Central Asian states, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of international, regional and non-governmental organizations attended the forum.
The Center’s expert Taalaibek Bektashev made a presentation on national innovations in the legislation on export control, implemented as part of the UNSCR 1540 partnership.
As a result of the forum, the participants identified main approaches to and cooperative activities for strengthening the export control mechanism in the countries of the Central Asian region.
