On 12 October 2023, a Memorandum of Cooperation and Interaction was signed between the Public Foundation “Center for Nonproliferation and Export Control Issues” and the State Educational Institution “Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn” (KNU).
The official signing of this Memorandum of Cooperation and Interaction took place in Bishkek in the main building of the KNU.
Taking into account that KNU is interested in further implementation of courses and master’s programmes in the field of strategic trade control (export control), the University intends to expand partnership and international cooperation in the sphere of development, introduction and implementation of educational programmes on nonproliferation and export control issues.
In this regard, the parties have concluded this Memorandum, in which they will seek to expand cooperation – especially in such areas as development of innovative infrastructure, mutual exchange of experience and knowledge based on successful practices, involvement of the expert community, and establishment of business relations – The parties will consider opportunities to cooperate on specific projects to develop and implement joint Programmes to promote the development of the national export control system.
The Parties will also endeavour to cooperate in the sphere of educational, scientific, methodological and practical activities in the field of non-proliferation of WMD, export control legislation, security, non-proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, counter-terrorism in order to achieve common above-mentioned and related goals and objectives, by organising and conducting events, mutual information exchange in accordance with the goals and objectives of the “Chair of Law”.
From the side of the Centre for Non-Proliferation and Export Control Issues this document was signed by its Executive Director Taalaibek Bektashev from the side of KNU – Erlan Bazarbayev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Kyrgyz National University named after J.Balasagyn, Doctor of Law, Professor, Member of the Justice Council of the Kyrgyz Republic.
