August 6 – Hiroshima Day. World Day for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons

On this day, our professional community WINCA Network, of which our Center for Non-Proliferation and Export Control is also a member, remembers the tragic events of August 6, 1945, when the atomic bomb “Little Boy” was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima.

💥 The explosion took the lives of about 200,000 people.

🔥 Fires within a 4 km radius from the epicenter raged for hours.

🏚 The city was completely destroyed over an area of 12 km².

Since then, Hiroshima has become a symbol of the struggle for peace and against weapons of mass destruction.

📍 On this day, we remember the victims and declare: nuclear weapons must have no place in the future of humanity.
