CENTER PARTICIPATES IN THE OSCE PROGRAMME OFFICE IN BISHKEK CONSULTATIVE MECHANISM

On 6 July 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek held another meeting of its Consultative Mechanism with Partners, bringing together representatives of Kyrgyz government institutions, the expert community, and partner organizations to discuss current priorities in the politico-military dimension.

The Director of the Center for Nonproliferation and Export Control participated in the meeting. The session focused on strengthening cooperation in the field of security, supporting the implementation of the Kyrgyz Republic’s international commitments, and further enhancing national capacities in nonproliferation and strategic trade controls.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, Azamat Alybekov highlighted the OSCE’s continued support in implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540. He also informed participants about the ongoing development of the new National Action Plan for 2026–2030 and the Government’s efforts to modernize the national strategic trade control legislation.

In his remarks, Taalaibek Bektashev, Director of the Center for Nonproliferation and Export Control, emphasized the strategic importance of the forthcoming National Action Plan (2026–2030) in addressing current geopolitical challenges, reducing sanctions-related risks, and strengthening effective controls over strategic goods. He also proposed expanding educational and awareness-raising activities on disarmament and nonproliferation, increasing the engagement of youth and civil society, and incorporating gender considerations into relevant initiatives.

The Center expresses its sincere appreciation to the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek and its Politico-Military Department for organizing another Consultative Mechanism meeting, which continues to serve as an effective platform for constructive dialogue, experience sharing, stronger cooperation between government institutions and international partners, and the development of coordinated approaches to addressing contemporary security challenges.
