Representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic Participated in the WINCA Leadership Meeting in Astana

From 27 to 29 January 2026, the WINCA (Women in Nuclear Central Asia) Leadership Meeting was held in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan, bringing together country coordinators, international experts, and representatives of relevant organizations in the field of nuclear security and non-proliferation .

Representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the meeting, including Mr. Taalaibek Bektashev, Director of the Center for Nonproliferation and Export Control and WINCA National Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic.


During the meeting, the Kyrgyz delegation presented a national report on WINCA activities and actively contributed to discussions on key priorities for the network’s further development, including strengthening its institutional structure, expanding partnerships, and advancing educational initiatives .


Particular attention was given to issues of sustainability, mentorship programmes, educational webinars, and enhancing the role of women in nuclear security and non-proliferation.


An important part of the programme was the participation of representatives of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), who presented an overview of their activities and strategic priorities and engaged in discussions with participants .
Mr. Taalaibek Bektashev also moderated one of the working sessions focused on WINCA membership, including criteria and strategies for expanding the network.


The meeting also addressed the planning of activities for 2026, communication strategies, and strengthening regional cooperation.
The event contributed to reinforcing professional ties across Central Asia and to developing coordinated approaches for advancing WINCA and promoting nuclear security and non-proliferation in the region.
