Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the support of the Program Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Bishkek, held a Round Table on the implementation of the Action Plan of the Kyrgyz Republic for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540

The 21st of November, 2023, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the support of the Program Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Bishkek, held a Round Table on the implementation of the Action Plan of the Kyrgyz Republic for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540.

The main purpose of the Round Table was to monitor and review the preliminary results of the implementation of the Action Plan of the Kyrgyz Republic for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540 for 2022–2025, approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated December 24, 2021, the tasks assigned to government bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic and consideration of further implementation of the Plan for 2022 and first half of 2023.

The round table was attended by representatives of government bodies, organizations and institutions involved in fulfilling the objectives of the Plan, as well as representatives of the BTWC UNODA Implementation Support Group Mehran Ruzbahani, the Conflict Prevention Center (CPC) of the OSCE Secretariat Sergey Petrov and consultants of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek , who made relevant presentations.

 

Representative of the Center for Nonproliferation and Export Control Marat Sadykov also took part in the event.

 

On the sidelines of this event, representatives of the Center, together with authorized government bodies, also discussed issues of promoting the bill on biological safety in the Kyrgyz Republic.
