Training for the OSCE 1540 Points of Contact, 4-7 September 2018, Rostov-on-Don, Russian Federation

At the invitation of the Government of the Russian Federation in collaboration with the 1540 Committee and its group of experts and with the support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (OIA) in the Russian Federation (Rostov-on-Don), from 4 -7 September 2018, the OSCE trained for points of contact 1540.
The training was attended by representatives of points of contact from 9 countries, including: Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of international, regional, subregional organizations (UN, UNODA , OSCE, OPCW, Interpol) and independent experts.
The main goal of the training was to strengthen the communication links of representatives of various countries responsible for implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1540, exchange best practices on implementation, expand knowledge in the field of WMD nonproliferation, and inform on various cooperation programs in this field.
In accordance with the program of the event, the representative of our Center for Non-Proliferation and Export Control in the Kyrgyz Republic Taalaibek Bektashev made a presentation on the achievements of the Kyrgyz Republic in the implementation of UNSCR 1540.
As part of the training, outreach activities were also carried out to familiarize the work of the customs and border services at the Platov International Airport and a visit was made to the Rostov nuclear power plant.
