The Center for Non-proliferation and Export Control conducted a training course on “Export Control and Non-proliferation”

The Center for Non-proliferation and Export Control, with support of the OSCE Office in Bishkek and the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, conducted a training course titled “Export Control and Non-proliferation” (Bishkek, April 3-4, 2018, Park Hotel). The training was attended by department heads and specialists of the ministries and agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as international organizations.

For two days, expert on export control issues Taalaibek Bektashev shared his practical knowledge and experience with the participants, making this seminar useful, informative and productive.

During the seminar, the participants had a unique opportunity to ask questions of interest and receive competent answers, as well as to exchange their practical work experience related to export control with other participants.

At the conclusion of the event, the workshop participants adopted the following recommendations:

Recommendations based on the results of the seminar “Export Control and Non-proliferation” (April 3-4, 2018)

Based on the results of the seminar “Export Control and Non-proliferation”, which took place on April 3-4, 2018, representatives of the ministries and agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic recommended the following measures in order to strengthen the national system of export control:
1. Accelerate the development of regulatory legal acts governing the procedure for identifying dual-use goods.
2. Government agencies should assist representatives of the domestic academic community to take part in professional development activities.
3. Address issues related to exercising government control over the use of controlled products by end users.
4. Continue to organize review and follow-up activities on export control and non-proliferation issues that contribute to strengthening the capacity of representatives of ministries, agencies and other expert organizations.
5. Organize work on the creation of a web portal that would have relevant information and a database on export control and non-proliferation issues.
